It’s unimaginable to think that we can get through life without at least a few bumps and bruises along the way.  Many of us have endured birth traumas (breech, C-sections, the cord wrapped around the neck, etc.), developmental traumas (abuse, neglect, insufficient parenting, etc) and shock traumas (loss of a loved one, divorce, accidents, medical procedures, etc.)  Not all of us are equipped or hard-wired to be able to return to a resilient state, following threatening and overwhelming circumstances.
